Our project development and finance practice has advised on complex, large-scale projects related to energy, infrastructure and natural resources. Our energy portfolio includes nuclear, hydro, thermal, solar, bagasse and other renewable as well as non-renewable energy projects.

In infrastructure projects, we have advised on various aspects of the construction and development of roads, bridges, airports, water and waste management systems, gas pipelines, transmission networks and other critical communication and transport networks.

In the process, we have acted for governments, sub-sovereign entities, regulators, sponsors, developers as well as contractors. Our industry experience of working for such a diverse set of actors allows us to provide clients with technical and practical insights that are always one step ahead of the market.

  • Pakistan International Airlines Corporation on drafting and negotiating PPP Agreements on a BOOT basis for three different multi-unit development projects in Sialkot, Islamabad and Karachi
  • Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority on outsourcing of airport services for the Allama Iqbal International Airport, New Islamabad International Airport and Jinnah International Airport
  • Airrs Associates in relation to a $300 million restructuring and rehabilitation project for the construction of Naib Amin Ullah Khan Logari Hospital and the Rehman Baba School at Lagor, Afghanistan
  • Khalid Rauf & Co. on a transaction for the construction of Multan-Khanewal 6 Lane Motorway, Package 6 and 8 of Ring Road, Lahore
  • A major developer in relation to the construction of a road network for the New Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad on a public-private partnership (PPP) basis for a total value of approximately PKR 7,000,000,000
  • KPEZDMC in relation to the development and management of over 14 different industrial estates in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
  • KPEZDMC on their project for the Acquisition of Active Limestone Quarry in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and facilitation with respect to the Development of Economic Zones dedicated to Cement Manufacturers and ancillary industries
  • National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDCL) on the legal aspects of the 660 kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) Matiari – Lahore transmission line being constructed by China Electric Power Equipment & Technology Company to the tune of USD 2,000,000,000
  • Gas Naturale in relation to the construction of an LNG Terminal in Multan, Pakistan including drafting of all EPC, O&M, fuel supply agreements and procurement of all regulatory approvals
  • PECO in structuring the transaction, drafting and negotiating with its Chinese partner for a Joint Venture for the production and supply of 500 KV steel towers
  • OMW Pakistan (Exploration) GmbH regarding acquisitions in Oil & Gas sector, in particular concerning acquiring petroleum licenses and the requirement of Pakistan Petroleum Rules
  • KPEZDMC in the negotiation and execution of a tripartite agreement for the construction of an oil refinery in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa for a total value of USD 8,000,000
  • Saif Energy including drafting and review of various concession agreements, such as the Sari South Petroleum Concession Agreement, Kohat Block Petroleum Concession Agreement, Khetwaro Block Petroleum Concession Agreement and the Kohat Block Gas Pricing Agreement
  • Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission on the project documentation and financing of 1100 MW x 2 Nuclear Power Plants
  • A state-owned entity on the project documentation for the Chashma 5 Nuclear Power Project (1100 MW) in Punjab including EPC, O&M Contracts and other financing documents
  • WAPDA with respect to the power purchase agreement for the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project
  • ET Solar International on its EPC and O&M obligations in relation to the construction of a 12 MWp solar power plant at Pind Dadan Khan, Punjab, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating the energy purchase agreement, the implementation agreement, the EPC agreements (split on-shore and off-shore), project coordination agreement and the O&M agreements (short-term and long-term)
  • Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Limited on a range of issues concerning the 1180 MW thermal power plant in Bhikki
  • Synergy Resources on the construction of a 40 MW power plant for the provision of electricity to Bahria Town in Rawalpindi
  • Sanjwal Solar regarding the development, construction, operation and maintenance of a 5MW PV Solar Power Plant in Wah
  • Alternate Energy Development Board (AEDB) on extension of letter of support and the performance guarantee submitted by M/s Bahawalpur Energy Limited in connection with its 31.20 MW Bagasse Based Renewable Energy Project
  • Al-Imam Enterprises and reviewed EPC contracts for the construction of an important project near the Pak-Afghan Border
  • Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company with respect to the development of a Golf & Country Club in the M-3 Industrial City along with the construction of low-income labor colony within the industrial area
  • National Transmission & Despatch Company (NTDCL) on awarding a contract of transmission scheme for dispersal of power from Neelum-Jhelum Hydro Power Project and the turnkey construction of a 220-KV Transmission Line between NTDCL, EDBI and SUNIR
