Lecture at the Bar Vocational Course organised by the Punjab Bar Council

Masood Ahmad Khattak, an Associate at our Islamabad office, was invited to deliver a lecture at the Bar Vocational Course organised by the Punjab Bar Council on 15 April 2023. The seminar was attended by the Federal Law Minister, Azam Nazeer Tarar, and was organised by PBC under the capable leadership of Mohammad Qayyum who heads its Legal Education Committee.

Senior Partner invited for a panel talk by YGA

Our Senior Partner, Ahmer Bilal Soofi, was invited for a panel discussion organized by Youth General Assembly on the issue of judicial activism. Mr. Soofi was joined by eminent legal experts including Hamid Khan, Senator Ali Zafar and Justice (R) Nasira Iqbal.

Partner moderates talk on judicial appointments at LUMS

The LUMS Law & Politics Society organized a panel talk on judicial appointments and the seniority principle at the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law, LUMS. The talk was moderated by Bakhtawar Bilal Soofi, a partner at ABS & Co’s Lahore office. The speakers on the panel included Advocate Salahuddin Ahmad, Senator Raza Rabbani, Advocate Irfan Qadir and Advocate Nida Usman.

Cases of child abduction from Pakistan

Earlier this week, a delegation of US State Department consisting of David Josar, Country Officer for South Central Asia, and Alex David from the Child Abduction Unit, visited ABS & Co’s Islamabad office and met Majid Bashir, Senior Partner, to discuss Pakistan’s judicial and administrative response to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of Child Abduction and parental child abduction issues between USA and Pakistan. 

Protecting Intellectual Property Rights in Pakistan

Earlier this week, John Cabeca (USA Intellectual Property Attache for South Asia) and Rob Folley (Economic Affairs Officer US Embassy) visited Majid Bashir, Senior Partner at ABS & Co’s Islamabad office, and discussed issues concerning enforcement and implementation of intellectual property rights in Pakistan. The enforcement and protection of intellectual property rights in Pakistan is very weak which discourages investors from brining in foreign investment into the country.
