ABS & Co advises Nintendo on protection of intellectual property in Pakistan

ABS & Co advised Nintendo on the protection and enforcement of its intellectual property rights in Pakistan, with a particular focus on the digital distribution and circulation of counterfeit and unauthorised game content.

The advisory involved an assessment of the legal and regulatory framework governing intellectual property protection in Pakistan’s digital sphere, including the applicability of copyright, trademark, and cyber-law provisions to online platforms, intermediaries, and distributors engaged in the dissemination of infringing content.

ABS & Co’s advice included evaluating compliance obligations under Pakistani law, identifying enforcement pathways against the distribution of counterfeit games, and advising on alignment with domestic legal standards governing digital commerce, online content, and intermediary liability.

The matter was advised by Samar Masood, Ena Murakami, and Ryena Kehra.

This engagement reflects ABS & Co’s continued focus on advising global technology and entertainment companies on complex intellectual property and digital-law issues in Pakistan, including cross-border enforcement, regulatory alignment, and protection of proprietary rights in evolving online marketplaces.
