Masood Khattak delivers a lecture on Civil Litigation

Masood is an acclaimed litigator whose books on civil litigation have garnered praise from practitioners across the country. 

High Court appoints 2 ABS & Co associates as amicus

Aiema Asrar and Fatima Midrar from ABS & Co’s Islamabad office were appointed amicus curiae by the Honourable Mr. Justice Jawad Hassan of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench in a landmark judgement regarding fixation of maintenance under the Family Courts Act, 1964. 

Associate publishes article on Liquidated Damages

We are pleased to share that Ahmed Abdul Rehman, an Associate in our Lahore office, has co-authored a paper on liquidated damages under Pakistani law which has been published in “China and WTO Review” by the Yijun Institute of International Law, South Korea.

Negotiations on the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline

In a new development, Iran has invited Pakistan’s legal team led by ABS & Co. to thrash out if US sanctions on Iran are applicable to the Gas Sales Purchase Agreement signed between Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 2009.

Seminar on Intellectual Property at UMT

Responding to a report by ABC

In 2018, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s 4 Corners aired an episode titled, “Behind Closed Doors,” in which the former High Commissioner of Pakistan to Australia was wrongfully targeted by her domestic staff member in an attempt to gain asylum in Australia. In the television show in question, close to 20 Embassies and High Commissions were discussed, however the majority of the time was spent on the factitious account put forth by the domestic staff member of the former High Commissioner. This targeted contriving was brought to the attention of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation by ABS & Co., with the result that no further publicizing of the said programme was undertaken.

PM Imran constitutes committee to formulate response to change in occupied Kashmir status

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday constituted a seven-member committee tasked with making recommendations to formulate Pakistan’s legal, political, and diplomatic response to the recent developments in occupied Kashmir. The committee includes senior officials, such as the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Attorney General of Pakistan, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence, the Director General Military Operations, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, and Ahmer Bilal Soofi.

Ahmer Bilal Soofi appointed special envoy to the Prime Minister

In a significant diplomatic development, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Imran Khan, has appointed Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi as a Special Envoy to the Prime Minister for the development of an ‘International Convention Against the Defamation of Religions’.

Ahmer Bilal Soofi elected as new WWF-Pakistan president

The Board of Directors of WWF-Pakistan has elected Mr. Soofi, a distinguished Supreme Court advocate and international law expert, to lead the organisation. He succeeds Khalid Mahmood, CEO of Getz Pharma (Pvt) Ltd, who served as president from June 2011 to April 2015. Under Mr. Mahmood’s stewardship, WWF-Pakistan advanced initiatives in climate change mitigation, alternate livelihood programs, and marine and coastal ecosystem protection.
