NTDC’s plea before the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority

As the regulator of the power sector in Pakistan, NEPRA imposed a fine amounting to PKR 10 million on National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) for the alleged failure of the national grid leading to an incident of partial blackout on 22 May 2021. It was contended by NTDC that the failure of the national grid was a direct consequence of winds cyclones, which caused the transmission lines to trip and resulted in the collapse and damage of the towers.

Development of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for the National Root Certification Authority (CA)

We are pleased to share that ABS & Co’s team led by Samar Masood, Natalia Najm and Manahil Gilani advised the Electronic Certification Accreditation Council (ECAC) and the Ministry of Information Technology and Communication on the launch of the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for the National Root Certification Authority (CA). The team advised ECAC on bringing changes to the Electronic Transaction Ordinance 2002 and drafted regulations relating to crypto apparatus, accreditation service providers, security auditors that will facilitate the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) in Pakistan.
